The Team
- Director – Richard Miller, BSc MIFM
Richard holds a degree in Environmental Science and a Diploma in Fisheries Management. In 2015 he was appointed the Director of the Deveron District Salmon Fishery Board and the Deveron, Bogie and Isla Rivers Charitable Trust. He currently manages a team of five. Prior to this he was the Biologist/Habitat Restoration Manager and has worked with the Trust since 2007. Richard also has experience of working in the North with the Orkney Fisheries Association and the West with Galloway Fisheries Trust. Richard is a member of the Institute of Fisheries Management and currently sits on the board of Fisheries Management Scotland.
- River Operations Manager – Marcus Walters, MSc BSc MIFM
Marcus joined the Deveron, Bogie and Isla Rivers Charitable Trust in November 2016 having previously managed the award winning Moray Firth Trout Initiative for 8 years. Marcus graduated from the University of Newcastle in Marine Biology and then completed an MSc at Heriot Watt in Marine Resource Development Protection. Marcus is the current Chairman of the Scottish Fisheries Coordination Centre (SFCC).
- Administrator/Clerk & Data Protection Officer – Sarah Roebuck, BA MICB
Sarah joined the Deveron, Bogie and Isla Rivers Charitable Trust as Administrator in January 2018 and took over duties as Clerk to the River Deveron District Salmon Fishery Board. Sarah graduated from Robert Gordons University in Aberdeen with a BA in Business Management and has proceeded to qualify as a bookkeeper and accountant through the Institute of Chartered Bookkeepers.
- Invasive Species Project Officer – Robert Paylor, BSc
Robert graduated from the University of Aberdeen with Honours in Zoology in 2023. After graduating he worked at Forvie and St Cyrus NNRs carrying out wildlife surveys and reserve maintenance work. He joined Deveron, Bogie and Isla Rivers Charitable Trust in January 2024 and is responsible for control of invasive species across the Ythan and Ugie river catchments.
- Invasive Species Project Officer – Lewis Barr, BSc (Hons)
Lewis joined the Deveron, Bogie and Isla Rivers Charitable Trust in January 2024 as a Project Officer for the Scottish Invasive Species Initiative. He previously worked as a Seasonal Ranger for the Cairngorms National Park Authority and Aberdeenshire Council. Lewis holds a BSc in Countryside Management from Glasgow University and is responsible for control of invasive species across the Deveron catchment.
- Project Deveron Catchment Restoration Manager – Jamie Gordon, MA (Hons); MSc; MIEnvSc; CEnv (employed by The Atlantic Salmon Trust)
Jamie joined the Atlantic Salmon Trust in March 2024. Jamie has previously helped deliver numerous successful environmental restoration projects in Scotland, England,the Netherlands, Belgium and the USA for a diverse range of clients.
