Dr Al Reeve is our new staff member at the Deveron, Bogie and Isla Rivers Charitable Trust. Al joins us as the Project Officer for the Scottish Invasive Species Initiative (SISI), which aims to tackle some of the vigorous non-native species such as Giant Hogweed, Japanese Knotweed, Himalayan Balsam, and American Mink that are present across Deveronside and the northeast of Scotland.

Over the next four years, with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Scottish Natural Heritage, the SISI project, working across 10 Rivers Trusts/Boards and the University of Aberdeen, will combat invasive species in an area of roughly 29 000km2.
Invasive non-native species damage the natural environment by out-competing (or eating) native species which then leads to a poorer quality environment. The goal of the SISI project is to remove these invaders and allow native species to thrive again. Consequently, we would like your assistance to make this project a success.

If you’ve seen any of these species, you’re interested in helping to control or remove these species, or would just like to find out more about the project, please send Al an email on alreeve@deveron.org or call on 01466 711 388.
